This is a picture of Araceli, a tenant at one of the 1600 apartment units owned by Page Mill Properties in East Palo Alto, and her son Junior. Araceli, along with other tenants, will be featured in a small book telling their stories of how the drastic illegal rent increases have affected their lives.

On Friday, October 3, San Mateo County Judge Joseph Bergeron temporarily froze the rents imposed by Page Mill until the company and the City of East Palo Alto settle their legal disputes. The freeze provided a much needed relief on the tenants, and a victory for community members who have been fighting the rent increases in December 2007!
