I enjoyed this conversation, but I think you left out some critical
opinions. What we need to do as chicanos is unify our community once
again like our brothers and activist of the 60s. We need to create a
more powerful political base, it can't be as it has been lately a lot
of talk but no action. We must support the least of us in order to
demonstrate to others that we are willing to make difficult
sacrifices to bring about positive action. Since the early 80s we
have become to passive and have allowed mainstream local government
to dictate what our destiny should be. We must reinvigorate our
brothers and sisters and all those people that love peace, justice
and equality. Our children are being dumbed down, and we are being
economically oppressed, many agencies are creating policies that
marginalize us even more than we already are. I am glad that you are
bringing truth to the forefront but much more needs to be done. We
need to take civil action, get all our community involved, too many
generations believe that this fight isn't theirs, such as immigration
or innequality in the workplace. The statistics don't lie, Hispanics
and people of color are disproportianatly displaced economically, so
how do we expect anyone to succeed and improve the quality of their
lives. We must first began by using our only weapon and that is our
bodies and civil disobedience to improve our lives. I want to help.
Your brother

Jesse R. Cruz
